MSMS Spring Events

Milford Square Music Studio wrapped up the school year in a whirlwind of activities. Our 100 piano students presented their Spring Recital on April 29th with folk tunes from our 4 year olds to Beethoven Sonatas and Debussy Preludes from our advanced students.  This year we graduated 5 students who had been in our studio from 10-15 years each.  All had started at young ages (some as young as 4) in the Suzuki Method.

Our Plaque Program participants were honored at the Spring Recital, and we have four who made "Student of the Year.” Congratulations to these students who worked hard and took the extra time to record their points.

We were thrilled to learn that several of our PMTA Keystone Composition Competition students placed in their respective categories with original compositions.  We had 1st place, 2ndplace, 3rd place and honorable mention winners.

We sent almost 30 students to the Greater Philadelphia Suzuki Association Enrichment Workshop for Strings and Piano where they enjoyed classes in Harpsichord, Triolets (piano, violin and cello ensembles),a Music History with games, Baroque Wig Making, Performance Readiness, Folk Dancing and others. The students had a great time and learned a lot.

In May, 56 of our students participated in the National Guild Piano Playing Auditions, held every year all over the United States. The judges were impressed with the musicality and professionalism of our students from the youngest to the oldest.

During the Guild week, we also held our annual Duet Recitals. All of our piano and violin students participated in ensembles with other students in duets, trios and two piano groupings.

This year, also in May, 28 of our students took part in five studio Repertoire Recitals for students at sonatina level and up.  For some, it was their first time playing, and for others, it was wonderful to hear how much they had progressed since last year. We presented 5 Year Recital Plaques and 8 Year Recital Trophies.

In June, we held our annual Composition Recital where all our students are invited to perform their original compositions.  We heard a wide variety of compositions from students of all ages.

Keep posted for our fall events.
